Wow, this must be the LONGEST blogging break I've taken. This summer has been chaotic and busy and with the changing of the seasons, comes a changing of priorities. Although we've loved being busy, visiting family and friends, and working like crazy on the house, this fall and winter, we are looking forward to getting cozy and having lazy weekends and evenings.
Speaking of being busy, here is a summer recap for you all...
We had some crazy lightning storms this summer, and the view from the deck was perfect! We were able to see lightning flashing all over and the ONLY time we ever lost power was when our transistor blew one night...ironically NOT during a lightning storm. I was able to take some great pictures by leaving the shutter open for a long period of time. Such a fun night!
Harrison turned 11 months in August...
And then turned 1 year old in September!
| This was from the first celebration on the 11th. He wasn't quite so sure of the whole cake thing, yet... |
| Looking for some sort of direction...Eat it? Smash it? Throw it and let the dogs take care of it?? |
| Ahhh good, but messy, choice...and caught chocolate-handed! |
Then, we celebrated again on the weekend. Harrison was the center of attention and I think he really enjoyed himself.
| This almost looks like an ad in a magazine with the 0% APR financing. We are still trying for the next e-trade baby and I think we are on the right track with this picture! |
| That's more like it! I apologize to everyone who went for the red cupcakes...turns out that frosting stains! |
| Here's to being ONE! |
Harrison received some great gifts for his birthday and some adorable new clothes. Thank you all!! :)
The last few weeks, Harrison has really started to become curious about the house, including drawers, cupboards...pretty much everything that moves, he wants it.
| "Oh this push cart that I'm too big to sit in...I want to sit in it..." |
| "Oh these drawers that hardly pull out all the way (probably for a reason to do with baby proofing)...I want to pull it out and sit in it." |
"Oh, all this yarn that my Mom had so nicely organized...it's so soft...I want to pull ALL OF IT out"
| "Oh this hidden cupboard that I just discovered behind the yarn? I want to pull the baskets away and get into the cupboard." |
| "What, Mom? What??" |
| "And my favorite morning bottle drinking spot...." |
You guys, he's not even walking yet....that's what's scary. He is a mover and a shaker and busy all the time. Definitely keeping us on our toes!
House projects have been keeping us VERY busy this summer. I'll be doing some before and after blog posts after we actually get a single room to the "after" phase. Some rooms are close, some rooms are....not so close. It's been a lot of work in the evenings and nap times, but the house is finally starting to feel comfortable and like it's ours again.
Coming up this fall, we are looking forward to a Halloween Carnival at my work, getting messy carving pumpkins and visiting a pumpkin patch (I don't think we'll have a problem with Harrison staying awake this year), the Central Washington State Fair, and much more! I'm also hoping to post many more posts now that our weekends have calmed down a bit. :)
Thanks for reading and I'm glad to be back writing and sharing with you all!! :)
XO,
The Hill Family
