So, we moved down here for the great weather, right? Right. I have to keep reminding myself when over the weekend, temperatures reached 110 degrees, the leather in Helga could cook an egg, and even at 8:30 at night while taking a run, I was sweating like a "lady-of-the-night" in church.
To combat the oven that was Valencia, we decided to take a trip to Santa Monica to cool off. Apparently, much of Los Angeles had the same idea, so the crowds were a little intense, but we had yet to visit the pier and walk around, so that is now crossed off our list. Highlights of Santa Monica include not one, but two large men with yellow boas wrapped around their necks (apparently when the economy is down and times are tight, walking around with a large reptile is the best way to make ends meet?), a yogi who exclaimed to me "Hi. I like your dress. I want you to have these books about meditation" (thanks, but no thanks), and the most deeelish frozen yogurt (no sarcastic comment here, I just have an insatiable desire for frozen yogurt...).
Also, I'm not sure if you guys heard, but the Little League World Serious was on the weekend. Now, don't ask why we were tuning in (oh yeah...110 degrees outside, can barely leave the air conditioned house), but nevertheless, we did. It was between a Huntington Beach, CA team (which we have actually been to, woo-hoo!) and Japan. In the end, the California team won, but it was sure close! It was fun to watch all of those little Ichiro's play baseball, and the extra large American food proportions sure are obvious in the size of the players........
In between innings, we also made sure to keep an eye on the angry ol' girl Irene wrecking havoc on the East Coast...now, pardon me if I'm overstepping my boundaries into standard weatherman training, but what gives those guys the idea that they can withstand hurricane winds, torrential rain, and sand flying at 70 mph toward their precious little faces? "Now, don't try this at home, he knows what he's getting into," says the anchorman. Is there some sort of weather man boot camp or training program I am not aware of?? Is a requirement of being a weather man (besides the obvious talent of seeing in the future) the ability to feel no pain while being sand blasted for 5 hours straight?? Possibly.... must be why they make the big bucks... I wonder what super human strengths Al Roker has?
Moving right along to the next order of business...I apologize for the lack of pictures in this post. Apparently I'm a little hard on laptop power cords and mine no longer charges my laptop, so I'm patiently waiting for a replacement. Luckily, I can write words from any computer, yippee!!
Oh, one last tidbit, I was soooo incredibly excited to get a new pair of running shoes on Sunday and couldn't wait to try them out... Apparently Dudley thought a little bit less of them than I did because he chose to pee and walk at the same time on our neighborhood cruise (which is actually nothing new) and successfully swished some pee on my new kicks... awesome...
Until next time friends, we miss you all...

ahhh Friday
Hello everyone....
I apologize for the lack of Thomas pictures this week. It has been a crazy week with work and trying to stay cool in a heat wave! We are expecting temperatures of 105 this weekend! I'm thinking that is even too hot to go to the pool....so we will spend our weekend vegging on the couch watching the food network and weather channel....
The winner of the highly coveted blog shout-out this week is....................FRED!!! Hooray!!!! He won with the following gem...
Luckily though, Adam was able to pull up the window and prop it back into place. It is currently being held by a few folded pieces of paper stuffed into the window opening....white trash? Possibly. However, we are forward thinking in that we now have duct tape over the window switch so we never accidentally push it to roll the window down. :) Only a few minor reminders of the surgery: the time now says "--:--" and the airbag light is always on...not too shabby!
I'm sure he went out with swinging....

"Are you f'ing serious!?!?!? I thought we talked about letting Dudley up on the bed?"
If only he knew that most of the time, those words are coming out of my mouth.... :)
In other updates: our beloved Helga is slowly starting to show her age. She is nearly 12 years old and has a few battle scars, poor ole girl. But last weekend, her driver's side window fell off of the tracks and got stuck in the door. Now Adam, always the DIY-er and "thoughtful spender" decided he would appraise the damage himself first.
I call this "Oh no, what have I done?"
I'm very sad to say that I think we lost a member of our little California family. Kitty Witty Poo Poo Head hasn't been seen for about 4 days....his food, untouched. We wish for the best, but we know it's the chance you take with an outdoor cat. :(

OK, shake it off, happy thoughts......we are gonna be spending the upcoming holiday weekend in VEGAS!!! yee-ha!!!! :) Hopefully I'll have plenty of stories and pictures from our little mini-vacation!
And for the last time people, STAY OFF THE BEACHES!!!

A Day Late and Puggle Short...
As the official press secretary for Thomas America Rondo Jack Jefferson, I sincerely apologize for the late picture post. If you readers are anything like me, I know how just one day without a Thomas fix can really cause withdrawals....
But first, the winner of last week's contest is...drum roll, please... Grandma Ann! She won by a landslide with her submission of "You may serve my dinner now. And, don't forget the doggie biscuit this time!" If she only knew that we actually serve Thomas's dinner with a sprinkling of cheese or a slice of turkey (or in the case of my turn feeding them...a few random Cheerio's thrown in).
On to the reason you are all reading...Everybody now! (In the theme of "WHEEL OF FORTUNE!!")
I apologize in advance if you do not speak "accountant."

WHAT IS THOMAS THINKING??
"Now Brittney, we have gone over this 4 times already, assets ALWAYS equal liabilities plus equity! It's the cardinal rule of accounting!"
I apologize in advance if you do not speak "accountant."
Now, I've heard that there have been some issues with posting your comments on the blog, and I wish I knew the exact directions on how to post, but I am actually very illiterate with computer problems, so I can't help you out, BUT if you e-mail me or even post on Facebook, I'll make sure to include your entry :) Y'all should still try to post to here though, so that way Adam can ready the entries while he's bored at work....
In other non-Thomas related news (I know, not much matters aside from His Highness), I've heard rumors of a so-called "Pannini-Thief" that has been snatching clearly labeled lunches from the refrigerators of a certain Seattle law firm. Shame on you, Pannini Thief....Shame. And how bold of you to leave the fries, as if you are watching your weight...Puh-lease. If you are reading this Pannini Thief, I'd reevaluate your ethical beliefs because the future lawyer that you deprived of a lunch today takes no prisoners........
In closing, I'd like to congratulate a fellow blogging couple and dedicated followers that have decided to join forces to be the SECOND coolest, most awesome accounting power team ever....yay!! As we have heard countless times before..."I bet your guy's pillow talk is super interesting..." I warn you, two...pillow talk will actually turn from mushy gushy to accruals, expenses, and hypothetical cases of GAAP departures. Here's to you and a lifetime of great conversation!!! :)
Don't forget to share with the world "What is Thomas Thinking?"

P.S. This is how Thomas like to watch Dogs 101 on Animal Planet. He knows how to relax :)

Slightly Underqualified but.....
So, while browsing craigslist this evening, I stumbled upon an interesting job ad that I will be applying for. Keep in mind, this is for realsies (well it was REALLY posted on craigslist, not sure how serious they are...). I will paste the ad below, my skills, qualifications, and general comments will be in italics.
We will need:
Paleontologist -- familiar with fauna and flora of the early Cretaceous period. Ideally holding an MA in Paleontology and considered an expert in the field. Dudley is considered ancient, right?
Survivalist -- Looking for someone who would be professionally addressed as a survivalist. Capable of rigging tree shelters, setting traps, and building barriers. Additionally fire building and general outdoors knowledge is a plus. I have survived extremely well the past 23 1/4 years, however, I prefer a more informal approach on my personal business cards, as "Brittney Hill, CPA, Professional Survivalist" is a bit pretentious, don't you think? And although my tree shelter rigging skills have gotten a little rusty over the past few years, I'm quite well versed in the barrier arena, as I successfully barricaded the living room from the dogs for about 6 months in Adam's parents house. My experience in the general outdoors includes everything from Bigfoot hunting and camping to crevasing...seen in this blog earlier this year.
Physicist -- Required fields of study: Quantum Mechanics, Chronometric Distortions, Time Line Continuum theories and Inter/extra-dimensional theories. At least twelve years of experience required, and no less than two MA's or one PhD. This one is a little hard to stretch, however, with my extensive viewing of Discovery Channel specials on Stephen Hawking, I'm quite versed in the above theories and the like. In fact, to prove my point, I was able to manipulate time and space travel, along with multiple dimensions, to complete my various higher educational degrees and certifications in record time. BAM!
Big Game Hunter and/or Weapons Specialist -- Must have familiarity with military grade weapons as well as large bore, high power, domestic weapons (such as elephant guns). Though this is not a hunting expedition, our safety is essential. Must provide personal armament if desired. My skills with firearms include the ability to sharp shoot a Pepsi can down on it's side, then shoot it back up...no joke...ask my sister, she's my reference for this application. Elephant guns have unfortunately been sold out for the last few years throughout Eastern Washington, so my experience with those bad boys has been limited. However, I am a quick learner and with glasses on (or one eye closed)- a sure shot. Which also means, if I lose my right eye in an elephant gun related injury, I will still be a valuable asset to the team. I do not desire personal armament.
A strong stomach is encouraged as spatial distortions can be pretty detrimental to bowel stability! Previous experience with dinosaurs and other pre-65,000,000 B.C. Earth is a HUGE plus! Do not carry any foods that have not been pre-approved for transfer. Also encouraged: the ability to run fast! These last few necessary qualifications are a breeze. First off, I don't puke, I pass out. Check! Second, I can live off of cereal and energy bars. Check! Finally, although running isn't a huge passion of mine (I used to only run half of the warm-up lap during track practices), when push comes to shove, I can sprint like a gazelle...for a second or two.
Email with your resume and qualifications for further information.

Hello! I'm looking for people with the following qualifications and skill set. I am fully aware that it will be difficult to find someone with all of these prerequisites so I am looking for a team of no more than four individuals.
So as you can see, guys, I'm more than qualified. :) Who needs accounting when there are such great opportunities to go real life dinosaur hunting!? And on another note, those who watch "The Office" on a regular basis...can't you see Dwight applying to something like this?! :)

Weekend Wrap-Up
WOW!! The new "What is Thomas Thinking?" contest was a great success!!! Thanks everyone for posting your comment here, facebook, and emailing us! You guys are hilarious! :)
I'd like to announce the winner, who has won the highly coveted "What is Thomas Thinking Ultimate Grand Supreme" blog shoutout!! Congratulations to.......Aundrea!!!! She was graciously crowned by Adam, who loves a good, direct, straight-to-the-point comment as much as the next person... Enjoy her quote in the comment section of Wednesday's blog post. Stay tuned for the next picture this Wednesday!!!!
We had a lovely Sunday here in Valencia. Adam partook in his very first pedicure!!! Now considering in the past 35 years his little tosies had never met the trained eye and hand of an Asian pedicurist, I thought for sure I'd be in for a good laugh....and boy was I right...
We joked that Adam's nickname would be "Canyon Man," aptly named for the large heel canyons he proudly shows off. As the petite, magical foot fairy rolled up her sleeves, I could tell she would be up for the challenge. She put some old fashioned elbow grease on those babies. And the best part was, I think she got a little too aggressive during the sawing of the heels, when some shavings (ewwww, i know!) flew back and landed on her blouse. She jumped back as though boiling hot water had been sprayed at her, but being the utmost professional when it comes to hairy situations, she quickly brushed them off without a word and got back to it...no time to spare!
I think at first, Adam didn't realize I saw what had just happened, but we made eye contact and he was busted!! We both just started laughing and I quote myself, "That's going on the blog, buddy!"
In the end, it was a success and we have the best looking tosies in town!
I'd also like to announce that this little ole blog has a whopping 5 followers!! Woo-Hoo!!!! :) I'm off to celebrate this achievement! Thanks for reading!! :)

New Weekly Segment
Hello to my three followers that are brave enough to show themselves....
I've decided to implement a new, exciting segment called "What is Thomas Thinking?" This is how it will work: Every Wednesday, I will post a new picture of Thomas and then all of you out there in cyber space with a witty sense of humor, can post what YOU think Thomas is thinking! Super easy, and I think it will be lots of fun....even if only just for me :)

Super easy, and I think it will be lots of fun....even if only just for me :)
Here is the first installment...
"Are you there, God?? It's me, Thomas..."
I generously added my thoughts on the photo to get your creative minds working... The funniest comments, as voted on by myself and Adam, will get a special shout out on the blog, YAY!!!!!! :)
Side note on this particular picture: Somehow Thomas muscled himself under the couch this evening. We thought this was nothing new, as he likes to army crawl under the bed when the mood suits him. I jumped at the chance for a photo shoot and came away with some great shots! ....but then he kept whining...while we were cooking dinner... while we were eating dinner and playing college Jeopardy... while I was washing the dishes.... I finally thought, "Wait a second, Thomas always wants some people food when we are eating, what the heck is going on??" I went around to the back of the couch to try and coax him out. No such luck as a plank was about 1/2 inch too low and Thomas's massive upper body just wouldn't fit. I then went to the front of the couch and the front support board was too low also!! We finally had to lift up the entire couch and he scrambled out so fast! So now the mystery is how the heck did he get under there in the first place??? The world may never know....
So anyways, I can't wait to hear what you come up with!!!!!! Pretty please!! :)
